Ogilvy proudly supports Macquarie University, providing PR services across a range of faculties. The University is fast becoming known for its excellent medical research, which is supported by a dedicated and unique hospital on campus.
One of Ogilvy’s first tasks was to help the University manage a special visit by HRH Prince Harry, who came to the hospital to witness groundbreaking work to help amputees walk again.
The Prince’s visit provided a unique opportunity to showcase Macquarie University to large audiences across Australia and the world.
Our approach and support included media and social media management prior to the highly-anticipated event and on the day of the visit itself. Our aim was to capture the excitement around the visit and showcase the real value of the world-class medical programs and achievements taking place at Macquarie University.
We developed key messages, fact sheets, patient and surgeon stories that were then referenced by Prince Harry and in the media. We also managed media enquiries and the national and international journalists who attended on the day of the visit. We ensured Hospital and University talent were media trained and on message to fully capitalise on the visit.
opr also arranged and managed professional filming of the event for a short video that was prepared and broadcast across social media channels in just a few hours after the Prince’s visit.
Prince Harry’s visit generated over 2,570 media placements with the potential to be seen multiple times by the Australian population – achieving more than 28.2 million impressions.
Prince Harry used the key messages we provided, highlighting and praising the wider work of the Hospital and University during his press conference.
The event went to plan without incident and the communication results were outstanding on all fronts – with a record number of the University’s positive key messages and brand images broadcast for a single story event.
