#PressForProgress – International Women’s Day 2018

9 March 2018: Established over a century ago, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and aims to inspire society to create a more inclusive, gender-equal working world. This year, we’re not only celebrating this historic day but are rallying all people across the Ogilvy network to become agents for change.

The past year has seen the meteoric rise of movements like #MeToo and Time’s Up, putting this year’s International Women’s Day in a particularly relevant context. Never before have women’s workplace and equality issues been more at the forefront of the global cultural conversation. This year’s theme – #PressForProgress – is a call to action. The day marks an opportunity to inspire everyone to do their part to help create change, not merely talk about it. 

We will be celebrating International Women’s Day with efforts focused on celebrating the women of the Ogilvy network while also uniting and motivating our friends, colleagues, and communities to act. Rather than reflect on what we’ve done in the past, we’re looking forward to the future and how we can all better inspire younger generations—along with our current leaders—to push for a more equal future because we believe the best way to truly make a difference is by doing it together.

On Thursday, together with Kantar and other WPP businesses, opr hosted a Clothing Drive & Market Stall with all donations going to UNICEF and Sydney’s Women’s Community Shelters.

We are proud of the progress we’ve made on gender equality thus far as part of our broader diversity and inclusion agenda. But make no mistake – we recognize there is still much more work for us to do. International Women’s Day is just a single day on our busy calendars, but we hope our collective efforts will inspire all of us to take action. If we all vow to do something tangible to create a better working environment, we can truly become a beacon for companies across the world to follow.
